WAKE UP!
Ephesians 5:14 "for it is light that makes everything visible, This is why it is said: "Wake up O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you". (NIV)
Ephesians 5:14 "Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ. Wake up from your sleep. Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light!" (MSG)
Fraud, fake, imposter, deceiver. Are these words something you’d want to be described as? No? Me neither, however I’ve been thinking about my life, what I’ve chosen to share with people, and what I’ve chosen to keep hidden. Sometimes the reasons for keeping things hidden are good, sometimes they’re just selfish. But in any case, there are times in my life, even now, that I could be called a fake, an actor, a deceiver.
Ephesians 5:14, describes me, when I am being fake, as spiritually unattractive, spiritually asleep, and if that’s not enough, spiritually dead.
When someone says to me, "spiritually unattractive", "spiritually asleep", or "spiritually dead" I immediately realize that this is not someone I want to model my spiritual life after. This person may be the girl going to church on Sunday’s, youth group of Friday’s and partying it up on Saturday’s. Or he may be the boy who, like the pharisee’s does things to prove to the world they are spiritual, or to look good in front of their church family. These are only a few of the scenario’s that could describe a person being fake.
But there’s hope! In fact the last two sentences describe it! If you are willing to "wake up" from your "spiritual sleep", or "climb out" of your "spiritual coffin" then Christ is willing to show you the light. He will help you turn from your "fake" ways and show you the light, his light.
