You are what you....say

James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.
10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
12 My brothers, can a fig-tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

A simple thought and a simple challenge for you today. The Bible tells us that what's in our hearts will overflow to what we say and do. Poeple see our words and can see our hearts-a bit scary huh? James reminds us that to take control of our tongue is an important thing. It does a pretty truthful job of telling us where our heart is at. When you are in a stressful situation, or are angry, or stoked, or any extreme, what do you say? Check yourself.
That aside, a simple challenge for you today. Our passage asks how we can speak both praise and cursing, both good and evil. Choose today, to speak "freshwater" words. Choose to encourage some people around you. Simple, right? Say nice stuff, and see what happens today.
