Well, this has been a very interesting and thought provoking week for me. Last Saturday at 9:22 in the morning my Aunt Betty passed away. The funeral was yesterday. My emotions this past week have been pretty crazy. I keep jumping back and forth between being really sad and being really happy for her. She had a disease called PSP (progressive superneural pulsy, all you scientific people out there feel free to correct my spelling), which slowly took over her body. By the end she couldn't move at all, she couldn't even blink, and so I am happy that God decided to take her home and give her a new body, a perfect body. At the funeral, my aunts granddaughter said that she didn't think grandma was watching this funeral from heaven because she was to busy running and jumping with her new legs.
1 Cor. 15:55-57 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, while a cried a lot, I know God defeated death a long time ago. And so for Christians a funeral is a time of rejoicing for the one that has passed away from this messed up earth, and has graduated to a perfect life in heaven.
