Have you ever had so many things you should do that you don't even know where to start? That is what happened to me this past week. I had so many things I could be doing that I mostly just sat around wondering what was the most important. Of course that didn't help me at all. It only got me further behind, and so once I had finally got them prioritized, I had to catch up on the actual work. This took away drasticly from my time with God. I was so busy writing papers and studying for mid-terms that I forgot to pray, and stopped reading my bible except of the passages I had to read for class.
" Bring the firstfruits of your land to the temple of the Lord your God."
-Exodus 34:26
In this passage God asks for the firstfruits. He wants the best part of your day, not just the leftovers. If your day is so busy that you only manage to fit some prayer time in 5 minutes before you fall asleep, than your priorites are wrong. Give God the first part of your day. For me this is not in the morning, because in the morning I am not really awake and I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Instead I set aside a portion of my day and dedicate it to God. This last week this time with God was pushed to the bottom of my list of priorites, but it belongs on the top.
My challenge for you today is to set aside a specific block of time for God each day, and don't let anything interupt it. No matter how much else you have to do, make God your number one priority.
