Rest for the Weary

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28

This is this years theme verse at Steinbach Bible College. When I first heard this I wondered why. I don't anymore. With a week and a half until major drama production and just recieving double the lines I thought I had, plus half a dozen other assignments due in the coming weeks, I definitely know what burdened means.

Then theres the lack of sleep, exams just around the corner and making time for personal devotions to worry about weary is definitely a part of my vocabulary. You may think that Bible college is a place to grow in your relationship with God, but a lot of the time your Bible gets treated more as a textbook than God's word. This causes a lot of people to become weary.

And I thought the verses wouldnt apply. How about you? Are there things in your life that are causing you to feel weary and burdened? Is there something that you're struggling to get through? The verses quoted above start out with 3 words " Come to me" God wants you to bring Him your problems, He wants to help you through what your going through, whether its mountains of homework or the fact that your aunt is dying of cancer. This verse goes on to say "and I will give you rest". So if you go to God with your problems, He will give you rest. That to me is pretty simple. Theres no if you come to me and do this or that I will give you rest. All you have to do is go to Him. In a world where nothing is free or easy that is astounding. To be able to give God my problems and recieve rest in return. All i can say is what an amazing God we serve.
