The blind leading the blind

He also told them this parable:"Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A student is not above his teacher, but every one who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
Luke 6:39-30

The other day as I was going into a restaurant and I saw a man guiding his wife, who was blind, into the restaurant. I tried to help as much as I could, but she relied on the guidance of her husband to get her in the door. They made it in and he continued to help guide her to a seat. This brought a couple of interesting things to me.
1-I am very thankful I can see!,
2-How would that situation be if the husband was blind.
3-Jesus is the one who guides through the dark.
4-The husband helped the wife through the door, but he continued to stand by her even when she knew the way.

This parable in Luke 6 is interesting and very true. How would a blind man lead a blind man? it just doesn't work. Even though we are followers of Christ we are still blind to so much. Do we rely on a fellow Christian for help when times are hard, when they can't see what is coming. Or do we rely on the one who can see? Jesus is most certainly the one who can see! We need to rely on him in the dark.

Jesus guides you through a situation, on the other side all is clear and safe. You take Jesus, just like a book and put him back on the shelf until the next situation.

Why do we do this?

Do we ever stop to think that if we had Jesus with us, Would we be in this predicament?

If we truly followed Christ, would we place our self in temptation? We do though!, time and time again, we place our selves in the situation.

He guides us through the door, he shows us to our seat, and he waits for us to make a mistake. And every time we get up and walk into that wall, he points us into the right direction.

Who are you going to rely on to get through the dark?

Trevor
